Panama Canal to increase daily maritime traffic from June onwards

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announced that as of June 1, it will increase daily vessel transits to 32 vessels due to improved water levels in its reservoirs. The increase in transits is expected to facilitate the movement of more cargo through the interoceanic waterway. However, due to maintenance work at the Gatun Locks, a total of 24 daily passages will be made between May 7 and 15. The ACP also announced that as of June 15, the maximum permissible draft for the Neopanamax locks will be increased, which will allow the passage of a greater amount of cargo. These decisions are made after an analysis based on water availability and conservation measures taken.
